]]>Well, if we ever needed colour in our lives, now is most definitely the time! The hope of a brighter new year is somewhat on hold as we spend yet more days in Lockdown. More days at home, working, teaching just simply being can feel monotonous to say the least.
Why not punctuate your week with bright colours to lift your mood? And yes, research suggests that colour absolutely does affect our mood and even the way others respond to us. In 1974 researchers Keith Jacobs and Frank Hustmyer discovered that colour can even change your heart rate, blood pressure and respiration.* Amazing.

In 1974 researchers Keith Jacobs and Frank Hustmyer discovered that colour can even change your heart rate, blood pressure and respiration.* Amazing.
There are different ways of looking at the colours you choose, ie you can pick a colour that matches your mood or go for one that matches the mood you WANT to be in. These days I suggest going for the latter and translating that as bright, colourful and maybe a pop of neon just for good measure!
Our bright edible stripes, either all over or as statement details on the cuffs or sleeves, are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Somedays we just want to shine. I don't know about you but sparkle is most definitely a pick-me-up, an instant sprinkle of glamour and a party mood starter. And makes you feel that little bit special.
Our Liliana knits are just the right amount of shimmer to be worn day-to-day or to be dressed up. Wear with jeans, skirts or doubled up with sequins, it's your call!
One thing we can all be sure of is the comfort we derive from curling up on the sofa with a good book or our favourite box set. Not least with the promise of snow in the air. From hot water bottles, to wraps and super soft bed socks our cashmere accessories will keep you warm in style.
So although we can't replace that long awaited hug - hopefully not much longer now - but we can promise to wrap you in cashmere. Bright cashmere no less. We find it helps.

Colour Psychology: What Colours Should you Wear and Why?
As we face perhaps more time than ever at home why not grab your cashmere hottie and a pair of super soft bed socks and cosy up on the sofa in front of your favourite box set. Almost sounds more tempting than a night out anyway!
Given the new requirement to wear face coverings we are delighted to introduce our stylish and practical solution. Fed up of not having enough hands to juggle handbags, hand sanitiser and constantly digging in our bags for our mask, we have designed a reversible snood with subtle side slits to put over your ears to wear as a stylish face covering. Wear with our reversible wrist warmers and you are good to go.
We have launched letterbox gifts to make it even easier for you to send a present.
Simply pick your present from the accessories collection and choose a card (Happy Birthday, Thinking of you etc). We will hand write your message, wrap it in tissue and it will be winging its way to the lucky lady with no need for them to hang around to sign for it. Yes, it really is that easy.

]]>Lovely local friend, bespoke event caterer and, lucky for us, Cove devotee Lucy Hoyle has created the most delicious recipe for us all to enjoy in celebration of this far from humble British classic. It is all the easy parts of making a quiche, and for those of us who have possibly been visiting the fridge more than usual over the last 12 weeks or so this could even be classed as low carb... A win-win.
Pastry-less Asparagus and Parmesan Quiche
@lucyhoylecooks
Serves 6
400g asparagus
1 onion
15g butter
7 large eggs
320ml double cream
40g grated parmesan
1 1/2 tblsp finely chopped chives
1. Butter an ovenproof quiche dish or a shallow dish measuring approx 25cm.
2. Cut the woody ends off the asparagus, and cut into 4-5cm pieces.
3. Peel and finely the onion.
4. Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the asparagus for 2 minutes.
5. Drain and lay on kitchen towel for 15-20 mins until cool.
6. Preheat your oven to 210 C.
7. Melt the butter in a small pan over a medium to low heat and cook the onion until it soft. Remove from the heat.
8. In a large bowl, beat the eggs a little first then beat in the cream, parmesan and chives. Add the onion and asparagus and mix.
9. Pour into the ovenproof dish and place on a baking tray on the middle shelf in the oven for approximately 25 minutes until golden and puffed.
Et voilà.
Delicious served warm with a green salad, or cut it into pieces for a picnic.
Feel free to enjoy it in cashmere!

Businesses big and small are feeling the effects of the coronavirus pandemic be it directly or via the ripple effect. Government rulings about shop closures, lock downs and social distancing have really tightened the thumb screws. All imperative to curb the spread of this silent disease but the impact on businesses is potentially devastating and possibly yet to show its effect.
As all good business owners do, we roll with the punches and adapt our businesses as best we can by focusing on our digital channels, offering discounts, spreading positivity and sharing online tutorials to keep our customers close. But this journey is a shared journey; a synergy between business and customer. Never before has customer support and loyalty been more vital. Small businesses are asked countless times to support fundraisers in aid of local schools and charities. Something we are delighted to do for our communities, but the tables have turned and it is now time for the community to support their local businesses.
We are by no means alone on this rollercoaster ride and wanted to take this opportunity to showcase a handful of other local businesses. We are surrounded by lots of creative, inspirational and innovative independents but sadly we couldn't include them all; but their unique talents, authentic brands and love for what they do is something to not just support but applaud.
Shop Pom Pom offers a carefully curated collection of imaginative and well-designed plastic-free products for children. Mini Miss Bread is an artisan sourdough bakery in our local town, Saffron Walden, whose delicious recipes have people queuing around the block for a loaf of bread or a locally acclaimed bun; cinnamon, cardamom or speculoos. I can vouch for them all. When I can get one that is! Having closed her shop in accordance with government guidelines, Megan has been sharing the love and giving online tutorials on how we can make our own bread at home. Give it a go, it's a fun activity to share with the family. |

Luxurious yet practical, our neon cashmere accessories make the perfect stocking filler.
Curl up on winter evenings with our cute mini cashmere hot water bottle or wear inside your coat on the side lines of a match / when watching a match.
The neon tipped wrist warmers keep you warm whilst keeping your fingers free for typing or writing. Layer under gloves for double cosiness.
A jumper is not just for Christmas
Who doesn't love to have a Christmas jumper? But, it does seem a shame to have one that is purely a reserve of the festive season. So, step away from the novelty jumper and invest in one of our timeless classics with a fun-infused twist. Just perfect for sipping champagne or mulled wine of an evening - which, let's face it goes on a lot longer than just December - coordinating with your cracker crown and much much more.
One for all and all for one
Clothes buying can notoriously be an area we shy away from particularly when it comes to sizing. Insulting someone by buying something too small can often be worse than oversizing although neither is ideal and slightly takes the shine off the moment. Why not avoid all of this by opting for one of our one size jumpers. They don't just fit but really flatter all shapes, sizes and colourings.
The Eva layering jumper with its short sleeves and neon side stripes looks fab layered over a tee or worn bare armed.
The reversible Flora poncho is the perfect extra layer to throw on over shirts or jumpers and is easily accessorised with scarves or jewellery.
The Florence cashmere blend swing poncho with neon tipping at the arm is luxury personified. Flattering and functional this is a go-to piece when travelling. Light weight and easy to pack and is great to throw on in the evening or with the chilly a/c on the plane.
At the end of the day every lady loves a bit of cashmere and would be thrilled to open anything that you choose; but, if the decision is just too much why not opt for one of our gift vouchers and let them choose their favourite.
]]>12 fairs, 1.5k miles and 118 hours of Christmas music later and finally the rollercoaster has stopped. When on the circuit you see many familiar faces and appreciate the solidarity of the small independent brands who use these opportunities to showcase their brand, reach out to new customers and to build a community amongst ourselves. We are all on the same journey with the same hopes and dreams as well as the same pitfalls.
The pinnacle of the fair calendar is most definitely Spirit of Christmas. Countless months of planning go in to this event alone. From the design of the stand, calculating the stock levels to the logistics of transporting everything, and us, to our 'new home' for the week. Don't be mistaken we do love it - perhaps more in hindsight - and embrace being part of this shopping mecca. Showing our brand to those who make their annual pilgrimage to Olympia with their wheelie bags in tow; something I initially thought was unnecessary and rather optimistic but now realise is in fact obligatory!
I, for one, have really enjoyed discovering new brands with their cleverly curated collections and designs and feel a sense of pride that I will be wrapping up a little piece of uniqueness under the tree this Christmas.
So now the dust has settled and the fair season has come to an end, I look back with a warm fuzzy feeling and almost look forward to getting back on the carousel in nine months time. Almost.

With this very much in mind we have designed jumpers to suit all occasions and styles this season. From chunky ribbed knits to luxurious cashmere layering pieces, this season's knits form the basic building blocks for endless combinations.

Robina | The perfect chunky knit sweater
Its boxy shape with balloon sleeves lends itself perfectly to be worn with skirts and dresses as well as your favourite jeans. Why not adopt the fashionable 'French Tuck' for a different look? By tucking in the very front of the jumper - leaving the back and sides loose - you are adding balance to your silhouette (particularly if worn with fuller skirts or looser fitting denim) whilst elongating your body for a more flattering look. The contrast black tipping on the cuffs adds classic chic to this monochrome beauty.
Connie & Heidi | Motif Magic
On first appearance it is a classic crew jumper but, as is our signature, a flash of neon stripes at the cuff and stunning intarsia motif on your left shoulder elevates these jumpers to subtle statement makers. Loud but not too loud. Dress them up with skirts for the forthcoming party season or simply pair with denim for effortless style.
Lara | Sophisticated Sparkle
V necks are not only a style choice for some of us but a necessity! We have had lots of lovely customers who have requested v neck styles so here is our new one. And with added sparkle. In classic navy this flattering V neck jumper with its almond shaped hem is party ready with the band of rainbow lurex at the cuffs. Party but not just party. You can add a little sparkle to your every day with the Lara and style it out at your desk or at dinner.
Eva and Florence | Luxurious Layering
Back by popular demand. The Florence swing poncho. And we can see why. Simply put, it is ridiculously flattering, the perfect extra layer and effortlessly stylish to boot. It can be layered over our long length tees, shirts or even jumpers as an outer layer but also can be worn comfortably underneath winter coats on colder days.
Our signature neon tipped Eva layering jumpers continue to go from strength to strength. With two new colour combinations these cashmere tees will carry you through every occasion. Dress up over a skirt for the evening or wear layered over a contrasting tee with the denim of your choice for every day.
England, well London anyway, has long been associated with maverick fashion (punk, goth etc) but, equally, there is a very British conservatism in dressing. It is refreshing to see that the 'rules' are being bent and what has previously been viewed as a fashion no-no - namely clashing colours and mixing up pattern and texture - has been turned on its head and is not just the reserve of the fashion avant-garde.
]]>Maybe it is a statement we make to convince ourselves that summer equals warmth. Although how many times are we caught short when the weather doesn't quite conform to our childlike description of the seasons? I, for one, never pack away my jumpers and definitely want them easily accessible throughout the year.
]]>What's more, cashmere can come in many guises. Cashmere tees, as a natural fibre, doesn't necessarily make it much hotter than cotton as it breaths with your skin. There is no denying the weight and drape is, of course, different but this can add to the comfort and wearability of the pieces. The different knits and style details can elevate the look from that of an everyday tee. Playing with textures is key to stylish dressing and the juxtaposition of luxury cashmere with distressed denim shorts or floaty skirts can change the look completely to suit your surroundings. A natural style chameleon!
Our reversible ponchos and cotton cashmere jumpers and tees are also great options both in and between the two seasons. Machine washable and versatile they can be bunged in a beach bag, stuffed in a suitcase or simply styled with jeans or shorts as the mood takes you.
Yes, there are some clothes which, let's face it in the British wardrobe, can be packed away between seasons but cashmere is not one of them. Admittedly you will wear it, inevitably or hopefully, less over the summer months but it should never be far from reach.

Blue is a chameleon of colours and with its various different shades there is a colour that suits all skin types, ages and colours. The rich tones of navy are equally en vogue in the winter months as they are on a beach in the sunshine and bright cobalts add a zing to the darker winter days whilst complimenting your tan beautifully in the summer.
Which blue are you? Or are you also a chameleon whose tastes change dependent on season, outfit and mood? I am, hence the fact there can never be too many blues to choose from.

]]>This aside, there is no denying that the evenings can still be a little chilly and when the temperature drops you want to have a cosy jumper to hand. Even with bare legs, throwing on a warm jumper seems to do the trick once the sun goes down. That, and a large glass of something.
]]>A new season equals a new wardrobe. Right? Wrong. It is very easy to get caught up with all the new trends particularly with the rise and rise of social media and to believe that you 'need' something just because everyone else is wearing it. Instead I believe that a few savvy buys will lift your wardrobe for the coming months and you can go #shoppinginyourwardrobe à la gorgeous Gaby Roslin As I get older, I feel much more satisfaction finding pieces that work both for me and with my wardrobe as well as being something I will love wearing for seasons to come. Cashmere being top of my list as this can effortlessly interplay with different looks and seasonal updates.
Luxurious and lightweight, cashmere feels gorgeously soft against sun kissed skin making it the perfect go to for Spring and Summer. Bursting with colour after the monochrome of winter, Spring blooms are the perfect inspiration for your wardrobe. Whether you prefer soft pretty pastels or splashes of rainbow brights, Spring is the time to get creative with tonal or clashing palettes.
Daffodil, primrose, lemon or sunshine yellow. You name it, there will be a shade for you. One of the 'hot' colours this season, yellow is top of my list and works beautifully with the pop of neon yellow in our Carmen and Philly jumpers.
Olivia von Halle Isla silk slip skirt £280; Me+Em double layer pleat skirt £139;
Mint Velvet wide leg crop trousers £79
Mint, aqua, jade or even 'jolly' green are also up there this Spring and there's just the hue for you. Team our grey Carmen with Hush's Jolly Green dress and transform it in to slip skirt for perfect AM PM dressing. Pick out the blue of the star of our Emily with pale wide leg denim for a fresh Spring vibe.
Hush Bay Maxi Summer Dress £65; Me+Em Cargo Wide-Leg Jean £159
Spring is the warm up act for Summer. You can play around with bolder colour combinations and start unveiling your floaty numbers albeit under a warm jumper or jacket. Once you've nailed the look it will then carry you through the Summer months with ease.

]]>Instagram, whether you love it or hate it, has been a great platform to meet, connect and support other women in business. Those squares are proof of the hugely talented women out there who have grafted, made sacrifices and overcome challenges to be where they are today. The support of others being key to this in reassuring and inspiring others to continue on their chosen paths. A game of numbers, indeed, but one that should be recognised for its positivity rather than for negative comparison.
As a business run by women for women, IWD was the perfect excuse to throw open the warehouse doors and introduce our team of dynamic women who work behind the scenes to bring the brand to you.
With the growth of internet shopping it is easy for all of us to forget that actual people pick and wrap our orders; that each design is the product of countless hours poured over colour charts, drawings and samples and that each photo we see has been individually styled, shot and dare I admit, touched up before loading on to the site. Then there's all the back of house admin that we would all rather ignore but is integral to the smooth running and success of a business. Don't get me wrong, it is all done with love and pride but today is good reminder to us all to celebrate what we do rather than be British and let our strengths go unnoticed.
So, here we are. Team Cove.

February is synonymous with Valentine’s Day. A phenomenon that just keeps on growing. The pressure to buy something ‘just right’ for your loved one can make the art of gifting a minefield for an old romantic. Judging the price (can the monetary value be translated in to the strength of my love?), the content (staying on the right side of ‘romantic’ that is not too cliché) and, of course, choosing something that they might actually like can make even the bravest run for the hills.
Our solution to this? Put together a wish list of our lust worthy knits and share it. Clearly not a very subtle approach but effective nonetheless!
If pink and red be the colours of love, we have it covered. From bright pillar box red, through rich morello cherry to soft baby pink there is something for every ‘Pink Lady’ or ‘Lady in Red’. Or for those of you / us who err towards the denim and grey hues, fear not, we have a fab array of these too even with a hint of 'valentine' pink.
Carmen £216 Philly £195
Polly £195 Emily £216
When we think of love, we always think of others rather than ourselves and our ‘self’ falls to the bottom of what seems a never-ending list. It is just as important and healthy for us to love ourselves, including our bodies. We all come in our own unique shaped package and we should celebrate this in our choice of clothes. We must learn to dress to love our shape and to find pieces that flatter our very own figure. Here at Cove we strongly believe our collection, including our one size designs (Eva, Fliss and Flora), celebrates and embraces our differences; offering a variety of designs to suit us all.
Fliss £129
Eva £165
Maybe we should just cut out the ‘middle man’ and buy our own Valentine present…..
]]>It is always a challenge to nail après ski style. Particularly if time does not allow an outfit change between a day on the slopes and a night at a club. There is no need to forsake warmth for style these days. Opt for statement base layers that, when revealed, don't give off the 'caught in your undies' vibe and add breathable lightweight knits for luxurious layering. We all have different body temperature settings; some can't wear enough layers whilst others merely need a tee under their jacket. So although cashmere may not be everyone's first choice for the slopes themselves it is most definitely a great après-ski option.
Long Length Tees £35
Our tees come in four basic colours and can be worn on their own or doubled (or even tripled!) up. The longer length body means when tucked in they stay tucked in and the longer sleeve length avoids that dreaded gap between sleeve and glove.
Long Length Tees £35
Ever feel you want to actually show off those snazzy base layers you invested in but less keen on highlighting how the pattern distorts over your boobs and tummy? Or is that just me?! Well, our sleeveless Eva jumper is your answer. Great for core warmth, avoids bulk under your armpit and looks super stylish over a patterned thermal (or plain tee of course!).
Eva £165
With geometric retro inspired designs the Ziggy and Alice jumpers look totally at home slope side. Lightweight in style and neat in fit, they work well under even the slimmest of jackets.
Ziggy £195 Alice £195
Anyone else hate getting freezing hands when trying to take the obligatory chair lift selfie? Well, your prayers have been answered. The wrist warmer. Wear this under your gloves for double cosiness et voilà warm hands when you whip off your gloves for a photo shoot!
Wrist Warmers £45
Colour never looks better than against a snowy back drop. The blue skies and white mountains show off colours to their max with neon being no exception.
Embrace colour. Blending in is not an option!
]]>How wrong can I be! Investment doesn't need to be limited to wardrobe staples it can also mean bright, standout pieces that fit you perfectly and make you smile. Investing in something you love means you will get just as much, if not, more wear out of it plus a tingle of excitement when someone compliments you on your 'statement' jumper. The one you bought, perhaps on a whim, because it wooed you on first sight / you loved it so much. Yes, you questioned the price but you convinced yourself you wouldn't buy anything else for a while (ahem!) and in cost per wear terms it was a no brainer as you would wear it ALL the time...
Here is the line up of our new collection for you to 'invest' in. Classic crews with a contemporary twist which defy seasonal trends.
Shoot for the stars in our new Emily. In the softest grey marl cashmere with a powder blue star at the end of a pink ombré stripe trail that runs down both arms.
Our retro-inspired Carmen jumper with its contrast colour sleeves and fresh neon striped cuffs channels a subtle sporty vibe. Pair with jeans for a look that will see you from cooler to warmer months.
So here's to your our new 'investment' pieces which will make you smile not only this Spring but for many more ahead.
]]>'Animal' continues to be a style stalwart so why not walk on the wild side with our leopard wallet. Or if muted shades are more to your taste, the grey with distressed gold detailing would be lovely to unwrap on Christmas day.
A JUMPER ISN'T JUST FOR CHRISTMAS
We all know how hard it is to guess the size of even our loved ones which is why our Flora and Eva one size jumpers avoid the embarrassment factor of getting it wrong! There is nothing worse than seeing someone's face fall when the size is wrong but the jury is still out as to whether it is more flattering to chose something that is too small or too big.....!
Veritable style chameleons, both the Flora and the Eva can be dressed up or down to suit any occasion. Style it out on Christmas day fresh from the gift wrap as well as over the months to come. The present that keeps on giving.
In either 100% cashmere with neon side stripes or reversible cotton cashmere both in a rainbow of colours there is one for every lady in your life.
May your Christmas be merry and bright; and the presents you give (and receive!) be just right!
]]>All that glitters
Nothing says party more than a bit of sparkle.
For glamour, our black and gold Ivy jumper is your veritable after dark hero.
With a sprinkling of gold on the oversized cuffs, the elegant balloon sleeves and the flattering silhouette this jumper will carry you effortlessly from desk to drinks. Emphasise the gold with accessories (jewellery or shoes) or by teaming with 'bottoms' with gold detailing or just your jeans for paired back elegance.
Ivy £195 Harriet £129
In a wear with anything shape, the Harriet is the perfect social chameleon. Tucked in or wear loose with its flattering almond hemline, with skirts or trousers, to a party or relaxing at home; the world is your oyster in this jumper.
Star of wonder
I remember going out as a child on Christmas Eve looking for Father Christmas' sleigh in the night sky. While gazing at the many stars looking for a sign of movement I spotted with awe my first ever shooting star. A memory that stays with me for many reasons; but the question still remains was it actually a star?!
The relevance of this waffle? That stars are, for me anyway, synonymous with Christmas. So the Berry, even by name, is definitely a jumper for festive fiestas.
Berry £210
Lady in Red
Who doesn't love a bit of red at Christmas?! The ultimate happy colour for Christmas day celebrations.
In different colours and styles, there is most definitely a red for all ladies this Christmas. The short sleeved layering Eva with neon purple tipping, the balloon sleeve Scarlet with neon oversized cuffs, the new Polly v neck with colour blocked cuffs and the reversible Flora in scarlet and spice reds. The choice is yours.
Eva £165 Scarlet £210
Polly £195 Flora £129
]]>The show itself has changed and all the stands have been rejigged. We have lost our home of five years - conveniently next to the champagne bar (hic) - but not only have we embraced the change, we have run with it. A bigger (and better) stand warrants a new design. So the job begins!
After umpteen tester pots of grey we finally decided on 'just the right' shade for the wall - who knew it could be so hard! Scale drawings of the space are drawn to decide the perfect layout, samples are hung to check number of hangers and hanging order, the stock is picked and artwork selected both for impact and brand identity. Then there's packing. Well, to say that's a Herculean effort is no understatement!
Set up starts on the Saturday before the show. Dave the delivery guy had brilliantly unloaded the van prior to our arrival on the stand and then a game of 'sliding puzzle' begins as you move the tiles (or in our case rails, mirrors, shelving, and stock) round and round the stand until the 'finished image' appears. Lost hours spent hanging the artwork with your best friends spirit level and tape measure. Et voilà.
Welcome to our new home for the next seven days.
Come and see us at Stand M92.

Jumper: Berry £210
Just to fan the flames, all the new collection emails have the same hypnotic effect as Kaa's eyes in The Jungle Book. 'You need this jumper. Your life will be so much better with this new outfit' and so on, so forth.
Jumpers: Alice (grey) £195 Iris (charcoal) £195
The solution? Well, first and foremost you should always go for something that you love. And love is something that we have poured in to all our fab new season designs. Staying true to our word, we continue to create modern classics you can rely on whatever the season to make you look and feel good.
Jumpers: Ivy (black/gold) & Scarlet (red/purple) £210
Versatility and longevity are also of importance to me when investing in a new season addition to my wardrobe. I want a chameleon of jumpers that can be re-worn and re-styled again and again depending on the occasion (and mood!); dressing down sequins, dressing up jeans or teamed with a floaty dress. A flattering silhouette is as eye catching in its simplicity as is an attention seeking statement design.
Jumper: Ziggy £210
Jumper: Ronnie £185
This is a mere taster of our new collection of autumn styles all of which are designed with you in mind. My advice? Just go with what you like and sprinkle your own personal style on to the outfit. You, as well as your jumper, can be a style chameleon.
